There are many important gardens in the area. With full details and many books on this subject in house, there is plenty of information to hand once you arrive.

Archaeology

West Cork is extremely rich in sites of standing stones, stone circles etc. In fact many books have been written on the subject and several sites are still being excavated as you read this. There is a selection of books on the subject in the House.

Horse Racing

Very popular pastime in season. A good day out to the races at Mallow or Cork would certainly put anyone in the Irish spirit.

Greyhound Racing

There is a very active Greyhound racing movement in and around Cork City. An evening at the new Greyhound track just outside Cork City is another excellent venue.

Clay Pigeon Shooting

On the other side of Kinsale there is a professionally laid out shoot for all the disciplines this sport offers. Set on the sea cliffs, this course is extremely well laid out and they welcome beginners and experts alike. They can also organise falconry and archery if pre-arranged.

Horse Riding and Trekking

There are excellent stables in Courtmacsherry and Clonakilty.
