There are two Towns within reasonable shopping distance of
Butlerstown House.
Clonakilty
Approximately 15 minutes by car driving west past Barryroe
Supermarket to An Ring, from there follow the sign posts to
the town.
Situated at the top of a beautiful estuary packed with every
kind of waterfowl, Clonakilty is a most attractive place,
and has deservedly won the coveted Irish award for the Best
Kept Town in Ireland for 1999.
Shopping is everything you could want it to be in the enjoyment
department. Several well run and pleasant supermarkets, a
High Street full of good quality well run family businesses,
with the most delightful people to help you should you not
be able to find what you are looking for. All in all, a very
pleasant way to divest oneself of the contents of ones wallet
or purse!
Bandon
About twenty minutes by car on the way to Cork City. Bandon
is a large (for this part of Ireland) bustling market town
and commercial centre situated on the confluence of the main
West Cork and Kerry highways. Amazingly, in the evening time
in summer, you can watch the salmon leaping the weir from
a promenade at the back of the town.
This
is a fine place to shop if you cannot find it in any of the
other places closer to the house, but this town is a commercial
centre and therefore does not have the ambience of the coastal
holiday towns. However, should you decide to try Bandon for
something special, you will not be disappointed by the service
you will receive, the shop assistants are super! |
