How to find us, travelling from Bantry
Take the N71 south out of Bantry town centre,
and travel about 5 kilometres to the junction of the R586
to Drimoleague and Dunmanway. Bear left onto the R586 and
travel on a relatively straight and even road through Drimoleague
and on to Dunmanway a distance of 20 kilometres or more.
Once into Dunmanway follow the R599 signpost to Clonakilty.
This section of road, some 15 kilometres or more, requires
concentration from the driver, as it tends to twist and turn
at every opportunity. It eventually deposits one onto the
main N71 about 4 kilometres west of Clonakilty.
(The advantage of this particular route is less traffic in
summer, and faster, despite the bends mentioned. If you would
prefer a more scenic and coastal route, ignore the R586 turnoff
and travel directly to Skibbereen.)
Travel off the R599 left to a filling station some 2 kilometres
distant on your right on the N71, and follow the diversion
sign around the south side of the town and signposted Bandon
and Cork City.
Travel all the way to a traffic roundabout on the east side
of town, some 2 to 3 kilometres, and turn right here for Ring.
Travel alongside the estuary some 3 kilometres to a pub called
Kitty Macs, and take the road bearing around to the left to
a crossroads, turn right.
Travel to another crossroads and turn right once again. Travel
on some 5 kilometres to Lislevane and Barryroe. Pass through
the Barryroe Supermarket and Creamery complex
And immediately past the last building on the right, turn
right to Butlerstown. Drive about 1 kilometre and turn right
again into the drive of Butlerstown House.
