Relax in award-winning pubs and gourmet restaurants and revel in the warm West Cork welcome

We are blessed with a number of absolute top quality restaurants and eating establishments within a short drive from the House. These include:

Casino House Tel: 023 49944
Tables bookable and licensed for wine and spirits. This restaurant offers food of extraordinary quality and needs to be treated with deference when booking forward tables at weekends. Plenty of notice will avoid disappointment. It receives a mention in The Bridgestone 100 best Restaurants in Ireland Guide - John McKenna.
Credit cards accepted.

Closed Wednesday’s and Sunday evening, open rest of the week and Sunday lunch!
Booking recommended.

O.C.C. Chef: Otto Kunze. Maitre D: Hilda Bakker Tel: 023 40461
OCC ( Otto’s Careful Catering) at Dunworley - In a magnificent setting overlooking Dunworley beach, the restaurant has the appearance of a traditional farmhouse. O.C.C. is open as a restaurant for your reservations and offers a set menu of seasonal fare for lunch on Sunday’s & dinner. Private dinner parties for between 15 and 35 guests can be catered with prior booking. The restaurant is now fully licensed, but still welcomes guests to bring their own wine should they so wish.

Otto’s food is 100 % organic, grown himself or gathered in the wild. He rears his own cattle, pigs and chickens, and is a fully accredited “Organic Producer”. OTTO’S nettle soup is famous throughout Ireland, an absolute must if it is in season! Otto now accepts credit cards.

Closed Monday, Tuesday & Sunday Evening,
open rest of the week & Sunday lunch!
Firm favourite with all our clients!
Booking essential!

Dillons Bsitro Tel: 023 46390
An interesting place is Dillons in Timoleague. Owned by a French lady called Isobelle and run on bistro lines, at first glance from the outside it looks rather like a pub interior as viewed through a shop window. Being fully licensed, the atmosphere with the odd local popping in for a pint of stout, is very relaxed but vibrant and intimate. (No credit cards)

Open from 6pm on Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday only
Booking advised! Tel: 023 46390

Grange Pub
Located 2 kilometers on the Clonakilty road from Barryroe.

Traditional Irish Pub fare! Inexpensive and lots of it! Vibrant local pub with lots of colourful characters, if you are truly hungry, an excellent lunch time venue.
Closed: never! But lunch venue only & no bookings or credit cards!

Deasy’s Pub & Fish Restaurant,
An Ring, just 1 K from Clonakilty.
Located on the waterfront in Ring, this pub has undergone a transformation in the last year. Owned by the fabled De Barra's team
(a traditional Irish music pub in Clonakilty), local chef Caitlin has woven her magic around a tempting and mainly fish menu. Superb food at affordable prices, excellent service, and a sea view not found anywhere else.

All major credit cards accepted, parking is a problem so give an extra 15 minuits for the exercise.

Open as a pub 7 days a week but the restaurant is closed Monday, Tuesday & Sunday nights. Restaurant hours are from 7pm through to 11pm Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday Lunch only.

Booking is strongly advised! Telephone: 023 35741

Gleesons (Click for Gleesons website)
Robert & Alex Gleeson, Clonakilty. Tel: 023 21834
Opened for business in 2003, this well appointed restaurant in Connolly Street is fast becoming known as an eaterie to head for. It has a luxurious ambience, yet is cottage and welcoming. No pretense, but exudes style and comfort, and a certain reverence, which excites the senses as to what is to come!
You will not be disappointed! The menu is perfectly balanced, and although the choice is reassuringly small: 4 to 5 starters, main courses and puddings, there is something there for everyone. Beautifully presented, the cooking is perfectly executed, and the whole experience is well worth the money.
The experience is backed up with an excellent wine list, and considerate, professional service!
A firm favorite of our many clients!
Credit cards welcome!

From 6pm to 7pm they serve an "Early Bird" menu at greatly reduced prices. Excellent for famillies with small children or beat the crush and do not mind the fact that you have your table for 1 hour only.

Gleeson's now offer an "In House" catering service. Their food is always of a high standard, so if you do not want to travel or cook, give them a call and book your dinner for delivery at Butlerstown House. They will do the rest!

Closed all day Sunday & Monday. Open for lunch and evenings rest of the week! Early Bird Menu between 6pm & 7pm!
Booking advised!

Fishy Fishy Café, Kinsale Tel: 021 477 4453
Just 35 min drive to Kinsale is a wealth of restaurants too numerous to mention here. Kinsale is considered to be Ireland’s Gourmet Centre, but time and complacency is catching up with some of the “Old Guard”. However, a wonderful venue for a fishy lunch has got to be The Fishy Fishy Café, located at the back of the town to the left of the White House on the old Cork road. Plenty of good parking in a public park at the back.
Superb cuisine, probably one of the best fish restaurants in Ireland….without a doubt! Early is the name of the game…get there by 12 noon, no later, have a choice of sitting inside or out, and enjoy!
Booking a table is not an option, but one can eat later, say after 2 pm up until around 4pm when they shut for the day!
Their fish shop is excellent, and you can buy crab, lobster, big Dublin Bay prawns, fish pies, and a host of different sauces and and excellent selection of ultra fresh fish!

Closed every evening and Sundays. Open rest of the week for lunch only 11am to 4pm!

Mary Anne’s Pub, Castletownshend, south of Skibbereen. An old fishermans village.

A lovely old pub, halfway down the steep hill which forms the main street of Castletownshend. It is situated on the right hand side, parking is outside and down the hill.

Majoring in freshly caught fish, this pub deservedly won the “Best Pub of The Year Award” a couple of years ago.

Fergus, and his wife Tricia, co-own this magnificent hostelry. He, out front on bar duty and keeping a watchful eye on his excellent staff, and she is Head Chef in the kitchens out back.

Lunches are served from 12 noon, and in season it is a very good idea to arrive early if you want to eat at 12.30 to 1.00pm. They serve through until 3pm, and then evening meals start at 7pm until 9.30pm.

Our favourites are hot fresh Dublin Bay peeled prawns in a delicious garlic cream sauce served with Basmati rice. Their fish and chips are also superb, all washed down with a pint of Guinness!

The menu has something for everyone, all locally sourced, and perfectly cooked.

We cannot close without disclosing “Tricia’s secret weapon”. Leave just enough room for pudding, and then treat yourself to, what must be, the finest Sticky Toffee Pudding you have ever sampled anywhere! The recipe is “Top Secret”, never to be divulged.

If you enjoy some real Irish banter, and you are not averse to some choice language, make sure you seat yourself at a table that comes within the jurisdiction of VERA! She will entertain you if you let it be known that you are anything but prudish! Credit cards accepted.

Closed Not in Season, but ‘phone out of season for opening times!
Booking advised evenings only!

Travara Lodge, Courtmacsherry.

Just 10 minutes away in this lovely seaside fishing village, Travara Lodge has recently been renovated by two Dublin lads.

They serve food all day in season, breakfast , lunch and dinner. And do not pretend to be up-market, gourmet cuisine.

The food is excellent and honest, well cooked and presented, and at a price which is refreshingly reasonable!

Well worth a visit, and tables are bookable. Credit cards accepted.

Closed: Monday evenings, but always ring and check!
Bookings advisable end of week and week ends!

Further west, some twenty minutes by car is Clonakilty. This bustling little town has a lot to offer the hungry and deprived.
