Further west, some twenty minutes by car is Clonakilty. This bustling little town has a lot to offer the hungry and deprived.

An Sugan is a traditional Irish pub serving excellent fish at the bar or in a restaurant on the first floor. Best to book the first floor restaurant or take "pot luck" in the bar.

Kinsale

To the east is Kinsale some 35 minutes drive from Butlerstown House. It has been mentioned before, but this town is and has been considered to be the gastronomic centre of Ireland. There is the Kinsale inner circle of gastro-excellence comprising some dozen or so well established eateries, but apart from these there are a number of super little places struggling to make the big time and really do offer good food at reasonable prices

Whilst still travelling east, the next stop has to be Cork City itself...
