Having been asked many times to make the house available for Wedding Parties, a highly successful event was held in June 2003, spurring us on to make Butlerstown House a regular venue for Irish Weddings. Butlerstown House is the ideal location, set as it is, in it’s 10 acres of gardens and woodland on the Seven Heads Peninsular. It is a private and secluded venue for your special day. The house is warm and inviting, the Irish antiques imparting just the right atmosphere and degree of times past. Modern and luxurious bathrooms accompany each bedroom, and the “Country House” myth of “no hot water” is totally eradicated by the new pressure system delivering endless lashings of piping-hot “Ishka”. Open peat fires, Georgian elegance and simplicity, ten foot high windows delivering an abundance of West Cork light, and the friendly, warm atmosphere, of a long lived in house, just oozes from every nook and cranny. The beautifully proportioned bifurcated staircase, (featured in our brochure), is just made for a Bride and Groom to descend into the hallway to the strains of a string quartet, and the upward admiring glances of family and friends. Allow your imagination to complete the picture! LOCATIONJust 1 hour from Cork city, 45 minutes from Cork Airport, 30 minutes from Kinsale as is Glandore, Union Hall, and 1 hour to Castletownshend and 2 hours from Gouganne Barra. Within a 15 minutes drive is Clonakilty, and over 1,000 bed spaces in hotels and Bed and Breakfast accommodation and ten minutes you can be in lovely Timoleague or the estuary harbour of Courtmacsherry. Locally, there are excellent facilities within 2 kilometres of Butlerstown House for B&B and self-catering. back to the top
WEATHER “The Seven Heads” enjoys some of the driest
weather in all of Ireland! Whilst we would be foolish to give the
impression that we can guarantee you the perfect sunny day, on many
occasions whilst Bandon, Cork, and even Clonakilty have been deluged,
not a spot has landed on Butlerstown House! It is a meteorological
fact that The Seven Heads Peninsular is the second driest micro-climate
in the country!
CHURCHES:For Catholic denomination members there is the main Church just 1 kilometre away at Barry Roe, also in the lovely village of Timoleague some 7 kilometre distant and Courtmacsherry. For Church of Ireland Protestant denomination, the beautiful church at Timoleague or the church at Courtmacsherry. Further afield, Clonakilty or Bandon have churches of most denominations and are about 15 and 25minuits distant respectively. For the smaller gatherings of up to 50 guests, it is possible to conduct the service in the House, whilst the larger groups could organise a service in the Marquee. back to the top Conditions for Weddings Butlerstown House is available on a “Self Catering” basis only. 1. The Proprietors are not in any way responsible for the organisation, planning, hiring, Catering, Marquee erection and dismantling, outside temporary toilets, cleaning and repair of outside sights, or the general overseeing of “The Wedding”. 2. Neither can they be held responsible for the performance of hired contractors and suppliers of goods and services. 3. The list of suppliers, contractors, and venues at the end of this text is intended purely as a guide and a help to prospective clients, and in no way implies a recommendation in any way. 4. Clients are free to hire goods and services of their choosing with the prior consent of The Proprietors. 5. The Proprietors reserve the right to refuse any or all of outside contractors and services if they consider, for any reason whatever, unsuitability for the purpose for which they are being hired or contracted. 6. The proprietors will not, by way of commissions or payments, profit from Service Providers or Contractors hired by a third party, and therefore cannot be implicated by way of blame or non-delivery of any such service or contract. Self – Catering Weddings.Like so many revolutionary ideas, this concept happened by accident! With the advent of expert and well- managed Service Providers in recent years, it has become possible for the individual to plan, organise, and “tailor-make” the perfect wedding day. One can throw off the corsets of restrictions offered by institutional hotels, and choose the services that you desire to perfectly fit your budget and aspirations. Only just a short time ago, venues for a self-planned wedding were almost impossible to find. Now, because of a change in financial climate and fashion, The Proprietors of Butlerstown House can offer you the perfect Country House Venue so that you can “fill in the canvass” yourself, without some higher authority saying: “You cannot do this” and “You cannot have that” Each and every wedding will be different at Butlerstown House! Not one will be the same, because the “possibilities” are so numerous that it would be almost impossible to achieve something identical.
The one “corset” that every individual will share will be “The Budget”! You will find a useful list at the end of these pages with some names, addresses, telephone numbers, e-mail, fax and contacts of various and necessary suppliers of services to help you to ensure your special day is a resounding success.
